A long time ago, the town of Hamelin was faced with a great problem (সমস্যা). It became full of rats. The situation became extremely unbearable (অসহনীয়). The people of the town were suffering a lot from the rats. The rats were destroying the food of the villagers and causing great trouble (সমস্যা). The town's mayor decided to offer a reward (পুরস্কার) to whoever could solve the rat problem. There was no one who could resolve (সমাধান করা) this problem.

The next day, a piper named Hamelin came to town. The Mayor promised (প্রতিশ্রুতি দিলেন) Hamelin that if he could solve the problem, he would get 1000 gold coins. At night, Hamelin was ready. He started making a sweet melody (সুর) with his pipe. The rats came out from different places and houses and started following Hamelin. He started walking and playing a pleasant (মনোরম) sound. Slowly, he went beside the river. He crossed the river, but all the rats fell into the river and died instantly (তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে).

The next morning, the townspeople were very happy because no rats were left. Hamelin went to the Mayor to receive his reward (পুরস্কার). But the Mayor had already broken his promise (প্রতিশ্রুতি). He told Hamelin to leave the town. The villagers also forgot about him. In fact, they were making fun (উপহাস) of Hamelin. Hamelin left the town with a revengeful (প্রতিশোধপরায়ণ) motive. Some days later, when the people were living happily with their families, Hamelin came at night and started playing the same melody (সুর) for the children of the town.

The children started following him. After some time, Hamelin reached the hills. The children got lost (হারিয়ে গেল) there. Their parents could not find them. They became very sad and realized their fault (দোষ). They understood that they had treated Hamelin unfairly and regretted their mistake (ভুল).

Moral: Keep your promise always.
